GENEVA SUSAN BLEVINS ROGERS
1917-2014
Geneva Susan Blevins Rogers, 97, of Grayson, KY went to be with her Lord on Saturday July 26, 2014 at her residence following a short illness. She was born April 9, 1917 in Elliott County, KY a daughter of the late Noah Madison and Lydia Margaret Blevins.
Geneva was a homemaker, a member of the Fellowship (Reedville) Christian Baptist Church since July 4, 1948, where through the years she had served in many capacities such as Sunday School Superintendant. She became a Christian on Christmas Day in 1937 under the ministry of the late Stanley Banks. She was the oldest licensed and ordained minister of the Christian Baptist Association. Geneva was a devoted Christian who deeply loved the Lord, her family and friends. She was affectionately known as the Church Grandmother. Upon her arrival at Hospice the doctor pronounced her as “Spiritually Sound”.
Geneva was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Rogers in 1999, a son, Chester Dean Rogers in 1969, three brothers, Johnny, Jim and Ralph Blevins and one sister, Zora Gillum.
Her survivors include: three daughters, Charlene (Watt) Sammons, June (Darrell) Tolliver and Carolyn Sue Claxon all of Grayson; three sons, Clyde (Nina) Rogers of Grayson, Charles (Iva) Rogers Ashland, KY and Mike (Gayle) Rogers of Grayson; 2 sisters, Hester Ison of Grayson and Martha Asher of Mt. Vernon, KY; 1 brother, Cline Blevins of Hitchins, KY; 15 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren (and another 1 on the way) and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the Fellowship Christian Baptist Church with Bryan Whitt and Larry Ison, officiating. Interment will be in the East Carter County Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Monday evening, July 28 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday after 9:00 a.m. until service time at the Fellowship Christian Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Geneva’s memory to the Fellowship C.B. Church Shelter House, 1274 St. Hwy. 1444, Grayson, KY 41143.
