Effie Mae Yates Stewart

Effie Mae Stewart, 82 of Grayson went to be with her Lord on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at her residence following a sudden illness. Effie was born July 14, 1935 in Willard, a daughter of the late Clarcy and Grayce Flaugher Yates. She was retired from the Carter County School System where she worked as a cook, a member of the Willard Missionary Baptist Church and attended the Bethel House of God. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2015, Tommy Joe Stewart and two brothers, Dallas “Bud” Yates and Bobby Yates. She is survived by; one son, Thomas (Andrea) Stewart of Valparaiso IN; two daughters, Kathy (Richard) Word of Prestonsburg KY and Beverly Stewart of Grayson; five sisters, Catherine Thomas of Willard, Peggy Manning of Lexington, Mary James of Rush, Ruth Isaacs of Hitchins and Clara Jones of Ashland; one brother, SamYates of Willard; a sister in-law, Freda Stewart-Rose; three grandchildren, Grayce Word Ransom, Joseph Stewart and Tom Stewart Word; and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Malone Funeral Home with R.C. Thornbury, minister. Burial will be in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North East. Friends may call Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., and after 9:00 a.m. Wednesday till service time at Malone Funeral Home.
