Ellen Steele

Ellen Cotton Steele, 93, of Grayson went to her heavenly home on Sunday, March 10, 2024. She was born on Sunday, June 22, 1930, in Floyd County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Eales and Erie Adams Cotton. She was a member of the Kiser Branch Old Regular Baptist Church.  She enjoyed cooking, working on her flowers, quilting, spending time with her family, and rocking in a chair on her porch.  Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Otis Steele; two sisters, Tamera Short and Elizabeth Wilson; three brothers, Frank Cotton, Bill Cotton, and Milford Cotton; along with a grandson, Otis L. Steele, Jr.  She is survived by two sons, Otis L (Libby) Steele of Ashland and Brent (Linda) Steele of Grayson; two daughters, Kay (Whitey) Marshall and Merry (Mike) Berry both of Grayson; eight grandchildren, Angie (Delbert) Salyers, Terry (Joy) Marshall, Jack (Amanda) Marshall, Heather Berry, Matt Berry, Christy (Daniel) Harris, Shaina (Eric) Johnson, and Casey (Jessica) Steele; one sister, Marjorie Gose ; three brothers, Kenneth, Larry, and John Cotton; 22 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of friends and extended family who all mourn her passing. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at the Malone Funeral Home in Grayson with Old Regular Baptist Ministers Gary Blevins, Gary Adkins, and Darrell Kidd, officiating.  Burial will follow in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Friday, March 15, 2024, and after 9:00 am on Saturday until the service hour. Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be, Terry Marshall, Jack Marshall, Casey Steele, Noah Marshall, Dakota Marshall, Harley Marshall, Austin Marshall, and Kyle Bair.
