Mickey Ray Sylvester, 68, of Grayson went to be with his Lord Friday January 5, 2018 at the Cabell Huntington Hospital. Mickey was born October 13, 1949 in Anderson, IN a son of Francelia Davis Sylvester and the late James S. “Jim” Sylvester.
Mickey was of the Christian Faith. Mickey was a member of the Trimble Masonic Lodge 145 in Grayson. Mickey received a Master’s Degree from Morehead State University and went on to work at Paul Blazer High School in Ashland and retired after 34 years of service as an Art Teacher. While at Paul Blazer he served on the Site Based Council. Mickey was a five term City Commissioner in Grayson and was a member of the West Virginia Wild Water Association.
In addition to his mother Mickey is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Judy Faye Strong Sylvester; a brother, Jimmie A. Sylvester of Allen, KY; two sisters, Cherie S. (Willis) Johnson of Grayson and Marye S. (Jim) Cosey-Hawkins of Greensboro, GA; three nieces and four great-nephews.
Funeral services will be 1 pm Wednesday January 10th, 2018 at the Malone Funeral Home in Grayson with Bradley Cotten officiating. Burial will follow in the East Carter County Memory Gardens.
