Alberta Mae Rice, 85, of Wharncliffe, WV, went to be with her Lord on 06 January 2022. She was born on June 25, 1936 in Betsy Lane, KY, to the late Willie Ellis Rice and Nola Mae Waggoner Rice. Alberta was the oldest of nine children. She was a Christian and a member of Beech Creek Church of God, Beech Creek, WV. Alberta loved her family, animals and baseball. She was thrilled when her team, the Atlanta Braves, won the World Series this past Fall. Alberta was always up for a game of Scrabble or a walk around the yard to check out the flowers or the garden to see if a tomato, cucumber or hot pepper was ready to pick. She enjoyed traveling and always looked forward to family reunions and visiting with her sisters for her vacations.
In addition to her parents, Alberta was preceded in death by brothers Bill, Tommy and Johnny. She leaves to mourn her passing a brother, Everett Rice (Juanita) of Wharncliffe, sisters, Barbara Diamond of Afton, TN, Phyllis Jesseau (Bob) of Hendersonville, NC, Sue Cutlip (Mark) of Spotsylvania, VA and Ginger Hamilton (Jim) of Middleburg, FL along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a special friend named Chance. A very special thank you to Everett and Juanita for taking care of Alberta and making her a part of their home and lives for so many years.
Services will be held at Malone Funeral Home in Grayson, KY on January 14th, 12:00 p.m. with her Pastor, David Ferguson, officiating. Visitation will be Friday, 11:00 am until service time. Burial will follow in the Rice Cemetery at Mayhew Flats, Grayson, KY. To leave a condolence for the family, please visit www.malonefuneralhome.com
