Barbara Ellen McDavid Burgess

Barbara Burgess, 78, of Grayson, Kentucky passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at Lakeland Regional Health in Lakeland, Florida. She was born December 18, 1942 in Beetle, KY; a daughter of the late Hughie and Rosa Oney McDavid.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, David “Red” Burgess; four brothers Carl Wayne McDavid, Gene McDavid, Chet McDavid, David McDavid; Sister Sybil Sue “Susie” Morris.
She loved spending time with her family and friends. All were welcome at her home. She was well known for her infamous “Love Pats”. She enjoyed cooking, gatherings, reading her romance novels, shopping, and of course Christmas.
She is survived by a daughter, Tammie Jo (Steve) Schertzer of Lakeland, FL; Son David Burgess Jr. of Grayson, KY; sister, Mary Parsons; three sisters-in-law, Jeanetta McDavid Thomas, Belva McDavid, and Kay McDavid; six grandchildren, Amy (Don), Steven (Heidi), Sunny, Adam (Beka), Loren (Mason), and James; nine great grandchildren, Taylor, Ryu, Eli, Addie, Easton, Malia, Reese, Lincoln, and Gabe. She also leaves several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other family members and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, 1:00 p.m. at Malone Funeral Home. Burial will be in the East Carter County Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Wednesday.
