Bertha Ann Steele Wells

Bertha Ann Steele Wells, 85, of Grayson went to be with her Lord Wednesday June 27, 2018 at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland surrounded by her loving family. Bertha was born July 19, 1932 in Carter County, KY a daughter of the late, William Earl, Sr. and Phoebe Seagraves Steele. In addition to her parents Bertha was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years in 1997, Clarence Cecil Wells, Sr.; four brothers, William Earl Steele, Jr., Otis Steele, Raymond Steele and Paul Garland Steele; six sisters, Lucille Rice, Faye Scott, Bonnie Floyd, Carolyn Seagraves, Judy Perkins and Mary Marcum.
Bertha was of the Christian Faith and attended Pactolus United Methodist Church and Johns Run Tabernacle. Bertha was a life-long farmer and homemaker. Bertha loved being with her family and grandchildren, especially making breakfast on Saturdays while listening to gospel music. Bertha was known for always having a kind heart and enjoyed working puzzles and in her flower garden.
Bertha is survived by three sons, Clarence Wells, Jr, Johnny Wells and James Clyde (Sherry) Wells; two daughters, Jackie (George) Waggoner and Jennifer (Marty) McDavid; fourteen grandchildren, Michael (Jessica) Wells, Austin (Nicole) Wells, Heather (Chad) Rice, Carrie Oney, Jennifer Waggoner, Cecil (Crystal) Waggoner, George Waggoner, Kelly Waggoner, Josh Wells, Jessica (Ricky) Huffman, Jeremy (Shana) Johnson, Jill (Brandon) Bays, Brittany Johnson and Justin Kazee ; nineteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mennie P. Rogers and Cora Messer all of Grayson; and a brother, Jimmy Steele of Columbus, OH; and several extended family and friends who all mourn her passing.
Funeral services will be 1 pm Saturday June 30, 2018 at the Malone Funeral Home in Grayson with Pastor Tom Riffe and Delmar Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in the East Carter County Memory Gardens. Visitation will be 6-9 pm Friday and after 9 am Saturday until the service hour all at the funeral home.
