Betty Jean Patton Buhr, 86 of Grayson, KY passed away peacefully Monday, June 17, 2019 at home with family. Betty accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord at age 15 and has lived a faithful life for Him. She has now begun her eternal life with Jesus. Betty was born March 1, 1933 in Carter County, KY, a daughter of the late James W. Patton and Margaret Flannery Patton, and sister of James A. Patton (Mary) of Edgewater, FL. She was married for 67 years to her high school sweetheart, James (Jim) E. Buhr. Together, they have five children; Timothy A. Buhr (Mary Beth) of Woolwich Township, NJ, Teri L. Huffine (late Benjamin) of Grayson, KY, Nancy J. Miller (Dwight) of Tomball, TX, Sarah J. Baker (John) of Birmingham, AL, and Thomas E. Buhr (Joan) of Cincinnati, OH. Twenty-seven grandchildren are blessed to call her “Marmee.” Her legacy will continue to live on with her 51 great grandchildren. Betty was a homemaker always caring for her family, a delicious cook, and a sewing extraordinaire. She was also a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Grayson. She served many years teaching God’s truth to the children in her home and in the churches she attended.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday June 26, 2019, at the First Baptist Church in Grayson with Brother Josh Schmidt and Betty’s Grandson-in-law, Nicholas Moore, officiating. Burial will follow in the Flannery Family Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 pm Tuesday at First Baptist Church. Memories and condolences may be sent to the family at www.malonefuneralhome.com.
