Betty L. Scott

Betty Scott, 91, of Grayson KY passed away Saturday, July 16, 2022 at Trinity Station Nursing Home in Flatwoods Ky. Betty was born September 22, 1930 in Leon KY, the daughter of Vincent and Lindy Brammell.
Betty was, along with her husband, George McGinnis Scott and many others, a founding member of Leon Church of Christ. Leon Church of Christ was a favorite and comfortable place for Betty, where she attended regularly and participated until health problems in recent years prevented her attendance. Betty made many friends at Leon Church of Christ.
Betty spent the post war years along Main Street in Grayson, KY in retail at Rupert’s Department Store, Horton Brothers & Brown Drug Store, close to George’s handling of the projector at Clark Theater in Grayson. Betty went on to work in retail at Baker’s Department Store where she became the store manager.
Betty’s commitment to her work gained the trust of owner, Van Baker, who elevated her to the buyer of apparel at the Grayson store and other locations. She traveled to such places as New York and Callifornia to acquire the latest fashions in women’s, men’s, and children’s clothing. Betty became friends with many repeat customers throughout her fifty years of retail in Grayson.
Betty’s adherence to biblical scriptures taught at Leon Church of Christ, and her strong work ethic, gained her much respect and many lifelong friends during her long adult life in Grayson. In addition, Betty’s strong support of her Brammell family gained her great family support and was well received by the family through her nearly 92 years.
In addition to her parents and her husband George, Betty was preceded in death by a brother Bill Brammell, sister Bonnie Sue Brammell, sister Joy Dickerson, (Lowell), and nephews Keith and Kevin Dickerson. She is survived by Keith’s widow Shelia Dickerson, great nephew Alex Dickerson (Amanda), and their son Grayson, great niece Rachel Dickerson and her son Matthew James Gore, niece Jennifer McGlone of Grayson, nephews Bill Brammell of Odessa, FL, Pat Brammell of Tampa, FL, Kent Taylor of Astoria, OR, and Jeffrey Scott (Mary) of Grayson.
Malone Funeral Home in Grayson in in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be 9:00-11:00am Wednesday, July 20, 2022. Services will follow at 11:00am with Pastor John Owston and Rev. David Stephens officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Leon Church of Christ and Hospice.
