Bro. Paul was a great inspiration to me. His sermons were deep yet simple to understand. I admired the way he always put his family first. He was so proud of each of his boys. He was also so happy to be a grandfather. Kids loved Paul and he loved them, always making time for them. Not only did his sermons inspire me, so did his marvelous voice. Paul not only preached the Christian life, he lived it. He was grateful and humble about the many blessings God had given him. He will be missed by his loving family, especially his loving wife and helpmate Jean, and his many friends. Will miss you, ole buddy.

This was from Paul sent to a dear friend in time of trial, even though he was suffering, he still encouraged others. Paul we will definitely miss u.

suffering is the most complicated issue in life. Why does a loving God allow bad things to happen to good people? Why does He allow them to happen at all?

I can give you some general answers. First, bad things happen because we live in a world tainted by sin. We live in a fallen realm because of what happened in the Garden of Eden when Adam disobeyed God. Bad things will happen around us, and sad to say to us until we get to heaven.

Second, bad things happen indiscriminately. They happen for no apparent reason and because of nothing we have done. Please stop beating yourself up, my friend. Nothing you personally have done caused the miscarriages of the woman you love. It just happened. God is not out to get us personally. He is not keeping a journal of the wrong we have done in our lives, so that one day He can get back at us.

Thirdly, the only thing we can really control with suffering is how we respond to it. It can drive us away from God or it can bring us closer to God. It can make us bitter, or by Gods grace it can make us better. It can define us, or we can define it. It can make us victims, or by Gods grace we can have the victory over it.e Like everyone else in this world I am a sinner, but by Gods grace I have been rescued from it

I choose to control my response to this scourge. I choose to live and love like never before. To focus on the positive things I have in my life. To continue serving the Lord and to keep trusting. If I had all the answers, I wouldn't need any faith.

Rocky Balboa says to his 20 something kid in the movie ROCKY BALBOA, "It's not about how hard you can hit. It's about how hard you can be hit and still keep moving forward." That's all any of us can do my friend...keep moving forward. Keep trusting the Lord and stop blaming ourselves. He has a plan for us. It's perfect.

So very sorry for your loss. It's never easy, even when you know they're in the presence of the Lord. We, being the humans that we are, still long to see and interact with our Dads. I know that God will be with you and comfort and strengthen you according to your needs.
Brother Samuel, so happy that you are our new pastor! God bless you so much in these difficult times, along with your family. With prayers and love in Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior, Ginny Ethington

Paul had a way of touching hearts like no other. Through Paul I truly felt the Christianity and love. He was the same no matter where you saw him and was always so uplifting. He was a very humble man and had a way with words through his sermons or just messages on Facebook. Prayers for you Jean and the rest of the family for the upcoming days. Hope you find comfort in knowing how much he was loved and what an inspiration to all that knew him.

Jean and family,
The Lord has gained one of its saints today, but I know your hearts grieve for my beloved brother. He was my good friend, and if not for his words of wisdom to me back in 2013, I probably would have passed on the Lord's calling for my life. I have always considered Paul to be a trusted confidante, and when the Lord called me to the ministry, even after I had not once, but several times, turned my back on the Lord, I was skeptical of the Lord's calling on my life. Why would He call me after all the horrid things I'd done in the past. Paul reminded me that even as "unqualified" as I seemed to myself, that the Lord's plan took precedence; that He "qualifies the unqualified", and is always the One in control. So, here I am now in Manila. I've been here going on 2 years now, and the Lord's work has flourished. I've helped win many souls, have started a mission by God's wonderful grace, am lifting up the downtrodden children on the inner city streets so desperately in need of love, nourishment, encouragement, clothes, and most of all, of our Savior.

You see, the Lord used your husband to influence me. Now He uses me to influence these poor people. I thank the Lord over and over again for the likes of Paul Henry Schmidt. And I thank Him mostly for the legacy that he leaves behind in your heart, your sons, and the rest of your family. You're all more precious than you know, and I love you all.

Paul was my mother's pastor. She loved him to pieces. He was a great man of God and I know Heaven was rejoicing today! I hope that our sweet Shelly was there to greet him. Even though his family and flock know where he is, there is sadness because he was so loved and will be greatly missed. Prayers for all that are grieving. God's comfort to his loved ones. Eager to see you in Heaven, Brother Paul.

There will never be words to express the depth of my gratitude for Paul's work with our youth at SCHS. The words he has blessed us with to comfort our hearts and to laugh with us. I remember his speech at Kiwanis on Mother's Day. I laughed so hard and I found out Jean had to have thick skin living with precious Paul. Love both of them. Paul H. And Sam are precious to my heart.
