Tribute

Carmen Hay, 83, of Grayson, KY, was carried safely into the arms of Jesus on Friday, May 17, 2019 at Kings Daughters Medical Center.  She was born on October 13, 1935 at Leon, Ky., daughter of the late Andy and Ella Pope Hill.  In addition to her late parents, she was preceded in death by the father of her children, Lawrence “Dick” Hay; brother, Robert “Bob” Hill and sister, Wilma Jean Sansom.  She is survived by three sons, Michael (Brenda) Hay of Grayson; Robert “Bub” (Linda) Hay of Olive Hill; Mark (Kathy) Hay of Grayson; and one daughter, Donna (Bill) Johnson, of Grayson.  Grandchildren Heather (Nick) Bocook, Amanda (Scot) Walker, Rebecca (Brett) Preece, Sarah Hay, Jennifer (Sam) Cox, Chris (Leigh Ann) Pope, Kurt (Kelli) Taylor, Kyle Taylor, Annie Baker. Great-grandchildren Tyler McDavid, Renee (Trent) McDavid, Cale Boggs, Devin McDavid, Kileigh Boggs, Kellsey Bocook, Nate Cox, Sam Preece, Lauren Preece, Sammie Cox, Caiti Pope, Cara Pope, Caylee Pope, Sonny Taylor, Corryn Taylor, Mia, Lilith, Bowie Hargett-Taylor. And her “new babies” great-great grandchildren Lakota Boggs, Dawson McDavid and Brentley Boggs.   Additional survivors are sisters Patty (David) Fite and Susie (Ron) Burnett. She is also survived by a brother-in-law Walt “Bob” Sansom, his daughter Brenda, and her dearest friend Susie Gipson. And numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. Carmen’s life was dedicated to her family and her church family. She was a member at Wolfe Creek Missionary Baptist Church and very active in the WMU ministry. She was a former member of Gregoryville Christian Holiness Church. Carmen was recognized for her advocations as a 4-H leader, Home Economics teacher and Sunday school teacher.  One of the highlights of her life was her trip to Israel and her mission trip to Paris and Amsterdam. Since being baptized in 1956 and dedicating her life to God and family; she was welcomed to her Heavenly Home with “well done good and faithful servant”. Carmen’s life exemplified the Virtuous woman of Proverbs 31…Proverbs 31:28 - Her children arise up and call her blessed.

Funeral services will be conducted, Thursday, 1:00 p.m. at Malone Funeral Home with Tim Burton and Rob Lockhart, ministers.  Burial will be in the East Carter County Memory Gardens.  Friends may call from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. Wednesday at Malone, and after 9:00 a.m. Thursday until service.  Condolences may be sent to the family at www.malonefuneralhome.com.
