Charles Edgar Rogers

Charles Edgar “Chalkie” Rogers, 77, of Willard went to be with his Lord Saturday, May 28, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Charles was born August 15, 1944 in Grayson, KY a son of the late, Edgar and Pearl Greer Rogers.
Charles worked in all areas of the brickyard including making clay molds for the bricks in the machine shop for over 20 years at General Refectories. Charles was a Christian having attended EK Community Church and Johns Run Tabernacle. Charles was a talented guitar player and singer. Charles was a “jack of all trades”, and was known for making something out of nothing, always taking pride in his work. Charles enjoyed watching and feeding his hummingbirds. Charles’s love was to spend time with his precious family.
Charles is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Freda Sue Day Rogers; a daughter, Shonda Sue (Tommy) Hay of Willard; a son, Doug (Teresa) Rogers of Willard; four grandchildren, Chris (Sandra) Rogers of Grayson, Derrick (Emily) Hay of Grayson, Nathan Caudill and Jenna Rogers all of Grayson; a great-granddaughter, Anna Chase Caudill; three brothers, William A. “Dub” Rogers, Paul D. Rogers and Delmar R. Rogers and his wife Wannetta who was very special to Charles as a friend and sister in-law all of Grayson; a special nephew, Tim Day; special friends, Bernice Bradford and family for always being there; and a host of friends and extended family who all mourn his passing.
Funeral services will be 1 pm Wednesday June 1, 2022 at the Malone Funeral Home in Grayson with Bro. Delmar Rogers & Bro. Ron Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Day Family Cemetery in Willard. Visitation will be 11 am Wednesday until the service hour. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.malonefuneralhome.com
Pallbearers will be Paul Rogers, Chris Rogers, Tim Day, Billy Sammons, Nathan Caudill, and Ron Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be Dub Rogers and Lester Marcum.
