Cora Mae Bailey

Cora Mae Knipp Bailey, 95, passed peacefully at home, Saturday, January 15, 2022. Cora Mae was born March 29, 1926 in Carter County, KY, a daughter of the late Robert A. and Lizzie Riggs Knipp. Cora Mae taught elementary school in Carter County 33 ½ years starting in one-room Maddix and retiring from Grahn Elementary. She loved her family and loved to travel. She was a member of the Leon Church of Christ for more than 50 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Mander H. Bailey, a brother, Wylie Knipp and a sister Ruby J. Knipp Elliott Wilcox. Cora Mae is survived by a daughter Elizabeth Mae Bailey (Norman A. Shaffer), one granddaughter, Amber Flack Kelley (Gary Lee, Jr.), four great-grandchildren, Dennis Raye Rigsby III “Tre’”, Joseph Alexander Kelley, Andrew Lee Kelley and Melaine Grace Kelley.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m., Thursday, January 20 at Malone Funeral Home with Bro. Jim Smedly, minister. Burial will be in the East Carter County Memory Gardens.
