Don West Everman, 89, of Grayson went to be with his Lord Friday, May 19, 2023 at his daughter’s residence surrounded by his family. Don was born June 2, 1933, in Grayson, Ky., the son of the late Ora and Iona Everman. Including his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Yvonne Newsom Everman, a grandchild, Tate Commodore Dearfield, a great-grandchild, Jackson Dearfield, six sisters, Lillian Everman, Lorraine Brown, Garnet Qualls, June Hawkins, Jo Burch, Jean Bramblett, and one brother, Darrell Everman. Don was a graduate of Prichard High School in 1951. He served his country in the US Army for six years, worked as a machinist at National Mine Service in Greenup where he retired after 27 years of service when they closed. He worked in maintenance at Jabo in Huntington for six years. Don was a member of the First Baptist Church of Grayson for 40 years, was an Election Poll worker for Carter County for many years, was an avid fan of UK basketball, Cincinnati Reds baseball, bluegrass music, and a coin collector, but his most important role, he was the best “Poppy” to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Don is survived by two daughters, Marquetta (Perry) Dearfield, Janie (Michael) Potter, and one son, Don Jr. (Valerie) Everman all of Grayson; eight grandchildren, Dustin (Sarah) Everman, Weston Everman, Austin (Laura Beth) Everman, Whitney (Cody) Hayes, Perry Dearfield, Jr., Michaela (Kris) Gambill, Mike Potter, and Lori Potter; eleven great-grandchildren, Macey Alexis Everman, Kaleb Izack Everman, Lennix Kyle Everman, Layla Ariel Everman, Lola Moon Everman, Markeylen Von Dearfield, Cody Robert Hayes, Kade West Hayes, Luca Albin Hayes, Michael Timothy “Trey” Potter and Jared Brice Potter. Don is also survived by two sisters, Gay Washburn and Sandy (Larry) Allen. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at Malone Funeral Home with Pastor Josh Schmidt, officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery. Friends may call at noon on Thursday until the service time. Serving as pallbearers will be Perry Dearfield, Jr., Dustin Everman, Weston Everman, Austin Everman, Markeylen Dearfield, Lennix Everman and Kris Gambill. Honorary pallbearers will be Cody Hayes and Kade Hayes.
