Gene R. VanHorn

Gene Roe VanHorn, 72 of Grayson passed on Monday, May 20, 2019 with his family surrounding him at Hospice Care Center. Gene was born January 30, 1947 in Sciotoville, OH a son of Ran VanHorn of Russell, KY and the late Irene Collins VanHorn. Gene was retired locomotive engineer with CSX, member of B.A.S.S. National Riffle Association, Happy Hooker’s Bass Club and past president of KY Bass Federation. In addition to his father he is survived by his wife of 49 years, Madonna Conley VanHorn; two daughters, Deirdre VanHorn and Tara (Jerry) Crank both of Ashland KY; step-mother Sara VanHorn; two grandchildren, Austin Allen and Lucas Hall; two step-grandchildren, Taylor (Casey) Stoneking and Trey Crank.
Services will be conducted Thursday, 5:00 p.m. at Malone Funeral Home. Burial will be in the East Carter County Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 3:00 p.m. Thursday until service time. Condolences and memories may be sent to the family at www.malonefuneralhome.com.
