Gregory Wade Johnson, 58, of Denton went to the with his Lord Friday April 2, 2021 at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland. Greg was born October 20, 1962 in Carter County, KY a son of Barbara Moore Berry of Rush and the late William Lewis Johnson. In addition to his father, Greg was preceded in death by his stepfather who raised him, James Allen Berry, Sr.
Greg graduated from Boyd County High School with honors. Greg was an Operating Engineer for over 30 years with the Operators Local 181. Greg never met a stranger and was known for his great sense of humor. Greg is the self-proclaimed “Governor of Denton”. Greg enjoyed riding horses and loved spending time with his grandchildren. Greg gave his life to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday March 29th.
Including his mother, Greg is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Tammy Renee Mullins Johnson; two daughters, Makayla (Joe) Bowling of Catlettsburg, and Kasey (Jake) Newsome of Summit, four grandchildren, Hailey Jo Bowling, Dixie Hope Bowling, Caroline Elsie Newsome and Rusty Alan Bowling; two brothers, James Allen (Michelle) Berry, Jr. of Rush and Larry Wayne Berry of Rush; two sisters, Lesa Michelle (Mike) Duley of Rush and April (Bob) Familton of Grayson; in-laws, Carl Jerry (Yvonne) Mullins; special sister in-laws; Jackie (Clifford) Clere and Teresa (Jackie) Cartwright; and a host of friends and extended family who all mourn his passing.
Funeral services will be 11 am Tuesday April 6, 2021 at the Malone Funeral Home with Bro. James Adams and Bro. Eric Clere officiating. Burial will follow in the Moore Family Cemetery in Rush.
