Helen Francis Johnson Maggard

Helen Francis Johnson Maggard, 83, of Grayson went to be with her Lord Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at the Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, WV. Helen was born August 26, 1938 in Maysville, KY a daughter of the late, Glen and Lena Cox Johnson. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, Billy Gene Maggard; a son, Robert Glen “Bob” Maggard; a daughter, Billie Rena Maggard McDavid; and a sister, Magalene Adkins.
Helen was a wonderful mother, sister and friend. She was always known for her generous heart, hospitality, and cooking for everyone who came over. Helen was a life-long seamstress, homemaker and farmer. She was a member of Bruin Enterprise Baptist Church.
Helen is survived by a daughter, Nancy Maggard of Bath County; a great-grandson whom she raised as their son, Johnathan “Big Pal” Maggard; 2 grandchildren, Bobi Maggard and Shelly P’Simer; three great-grandchildren, Ashliegh Thompson, Katie P’Simer and Hunter P’Simer; two great-great-grandchildren, Serena Thompson and Kayden Thompson; four brothers, Dude (Sue) Johnson, Keen (Linda) Johnson, Jerry (Linda) Johnson and Charles Johnson all of Elliott County, KY; a sister, Mary Rose Kiser of Alliance, OH; a sister in-law who was like a sister, Judy Thompson; a special friend, Mary Lou Greer; and many friends and extended family who all mourn her passing.
Funeral services will be 12 noon Monday April 11, 2022 at the Malone Funeral Home with Bro. Tim Porter officiating. Burial will follow in the East Carter County Memory Gardens.
