James Franklin “Jim” Burton, Sr. 87, of Grayson went to be with his Lord Wednesday, July 7, at his residence. Jim was born January 16, 1934 in Hitchins, KY a son of the late Ralph and Agnes McGuire Burton. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy Louise Shepherd Burton; and a son, George Burton; granddaughter, Francis; a great-granddaughter, Emma Jane; his siblings, Freda Thompson, Wilma Ratcliff and John Burton. Jim became a member of Grayson Church of God Of Prophecy (New Hope) in 1956. He was set forth as a Deacon in 1965. He was an Army Veteran, farmer, coal miner and “milk man”. He completed his working career at Ralph’s. Jim is survived by two sons; James Franklin (Corliss) Burton, Jr. of Webbville, and John Trent Burton of Grayson; three daughters, Connie (Dale) Autry of Ringgold, GA, Judy (Robert) Brittingham of Chattanooga, TN, Peggy (Galen) Bell of Ooltewah, TN; a daughter in-law, Alice Burton of Grayson; a sister, Linda (Chuck) Blanton of IL; a sister in-law, Flo Burton of Hitchins; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and one due in August; and a host of family and friends who all mourn his passing. A celebration of life service will be held 11 am Saturday July 17, 2021 at the New Hope Church of God of Prophecy, 1784 East US Hwy 60, Grayson, KY 41143, with Rev. Mark Griffin officiating.
