James Russell French

James “Jim” Russell French, 74, of Grayson went to be with his Lord Friday October 18, 2019 at the Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. Jim was born September 13, 1945 in Columbus, OH a son of the late Perry French and Marie Perkins Blythe. In addition to his parents Jim was preceded in death by a his late wife, Agnes Bowling French; a son Kenny Sloas; a grandson, Aaron Sloas; two granddaughters, Molly French and Melissa Crain; and a sister in-law, Sherry French.
Jim worked from March of 1992-1999 at the Webbville Voluntary Fire Department; and was the Fire Chief from April 1997 until December of 1998. Jim worked as an over-the-road trucker and as a heavy equipment operator with the Operators Union 181. Jim enjoyed going to dirt track races, riding his four-wheeler and riding his motorcycle as a member of the Patriot Guard for over 10 years.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Mary Sue Gallion French; two sons, Mitchell (Julie) French of Portland, OR and David (Beverlie) French of Argillite; two daughters, Stephanie (Denver) Cordle of Ashland and Sandi Boyd of Grayson; 11 grandchildren, Xander, Malcolm, Jordan, Adalye, Gavin, Lindsey, Ethan, Sean, Savannah, Brandon and LeAndra; two brothers, Charles (Patty) French of Webbville and Larry French of Louisa; a special family friend, Amanda (Jason) Smith of Grayson; and several nieces, nephews and extended family who all mourn his passing.
Funeral services will be 2 pm Wednesday October 23, 2019 at the Malone Funeral Home in Grayson with Bro David Wade officiating. Cremation will follow services with a private inurnment to follow in the Perkins Family Cemetery in Webbville at a later date. Visitation will be 6-9 pm Tuesday and after 9 am Wednesday until the service hour all at the funeral home. www.malonefuneralhome.com
