James Edward Holton Sr.

James Edward Holton, Sr., 86 of Grayson went to be with his Lord on Thursday, August 03, 2017 at Harbor Heath Care in Ironton OH. James was born April 16, 1931 in Moncl, WV a son of the late John V. and Sally Ann Combs Holton. He was of the Baptist faith and attended Grayson Nazarene Church. He retired from the US Army, served in the Korean conflict where he was held prisoner for 3 years. He was preceded in death by his first wife Dollie Tomlin and second wife, Mildred Tomoe; grandson; Jason Bush; three brothers, Tommy Holton, Miles Owen and Charlie Holton; two sisters, Ruth Lybrand and Jona Mae Holton. He is survived by his wife Vina Elliott Shaffer Holton; five sons, John Vernon Holton of NC, James Edward Holton, Jr of NC, David Glen Holton of Virginia, Eddie Joe Holton of NC and Freeman “Shorty” Shaffer of Grayson; four daughters, Debbie Campbell of NC, Kathy Shaak, Mary Bush and Jan Varney all of Grayson; fourteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, 1:00 p.m. at Malone Funeral Home with James Harris, minister. Burial will be in Northeast Kentucky Veterans Cemetery with full military rites.
