James Leslie “Joe” McDavid, 83, of Willard went to be with his Lord Monday September 6, 2021 at his residence. Joe was born March 14, 1938 in Beetle, KY a son of the late Morton and Minnie Hylton McDavid. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by four sisters, Nancy Bae Marshall, Lillian Whitt, Ora Bently and Belva Bently; an infant sister, Faye McDavid; and five brothers, Roscoe McDavid, Calvin McDavid, Randolph McDavid, Jessie McDavid, and Ernest McDavid. Joe was a member of the Mt. Chapel United Baptist Church in Beetle; Joe loved his church family very much. Joe worked as a Laborer with the Local 1445. Joe was a life-long farmer who enjoyed being outside taking care of his cattle. Joe was an avid Cincinnati Reds, UK Basketball fan and Bluegrass music fan. Joe had a contagious personality and never met a stranger. Joe was a member of the Willard Masonic Lodge 626. Joe is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Joyce Elaine Dranvestott McDavid; three sons, Brian (Sherri) McDavid of Beetle, Ronald (Cristina) McDavid of Flatwoods, and Gary (Lisa) McDavid of Willard; four grandchildren, Melanie (Jason) Queen, Ashlie McDavid, Craig (Wrendi) McDavid, and Kayla (Brady) Whitley; five great-grandchildren, Laney Blevins-Queen, Adria Queen, Arnold Joe McDavid, Oliver Morton McDavid and Logan Whitley; and a host of extended family and friends who all mourn his passing. Funeral services will be 12 noon Monday September 13, 2021 at the Malone Funeral Home in Grayson with Bro. Lewis Baier officiating. Burial will follow in the East Carter County Memory Gardens.
