Murrie L. O'Brien

Murrie L. O’Brien, 81, of Denton, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at his residence. Murrie was born July 16, 1941 in Hitchins, KY, a son of the late Enach and Lena Marie Taylor O’Brien. He retired from Hitchins General Refactories with 29 years’ service and a member of Laborers Local #1445. He was a member of Savage Memorial Church and was an avid woodworker. Murrie was preceded in death by his wife, Dempsey Thompson O’Brien; son, Robby Barker and sister, Laura Jean Evans. He is survived by sons, Murrie “Junie” (Teresa) O’Brien, Jr., Rickey (Jennifer) Campbell; daughter, Regina (Marty) McGranahan; brother, Enoch O’Brien; grandchildren, Zach (Talia) McGranahan, Lakyn (Andrew) Miller, Kacy (Ryan) Hicks, Dylan (Morgan) Campbell, Katey Campbell, Barren Barker, Misty Barker and Trent Barker; seven Great-grandchildren; canine companion, Bearpaw.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Malone Funeral Home with Bro. James Adams and Bro. Keith Hill, ministers. Burial will be in the Mullins Family Cemetery. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until service time Saturday. Serving as pallbearers will be, June Steele, Zach McGranahan, Ryan Hicks, Andrew Miller, Marty McGranahan and Junie O’Brien.
