Orville “Dee” Rogers, 84, of Columbus, Ohio formerly of Grayson, went to be with his Lord Friday March 22, 2019 at the Mount Carmel East Hospital in Columbus, OH. Dee was born October 11, 1934 in Huff Run, KY a son of the late Arvil and Beulah Parsons Rogers. In addition to his parents Dee was preceded in death by two brothers, Grover Clayton Rogers and Harold Virgil “HV” Rogers; and three sisters, Jean Marie Rogers Prichard, Wilma Louise Rogers and Phyllis Onita Rogers.
Dee was a member of the Huff Run Church. Dee moved to Columbus at the age of 17 in 1951, where he worked at Claycraft Brickyard for over 20 years. Dee later worked at Kroger, Rockwell International and Peace Lutheran Church. Dee loved spending time with his Kentucky and Ohio family. Dee was an avid UK basketball fan; enjoyed bowling in a league with his son Randy, and was known for his exceptional talent. Dee was and outdoorsman, spending his time cutting grass, cutting wood and burning trash.
Dee is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Shirley Rae Griffey Rogers; a son, Randall “Randy” Rogers of Blacklick, OH; four granddaughters, Ashley (Michael) Elizabeth Rogers Pi of Las Vegas, NV, Amber Kay Rogers of Los Angeles, Amanda Nicole Rogers of Pataskala, OH and Anna Grace Rogers of Blacklick, OH; three sisters, Virginia “Jennie” Rogers Large of Webbville, Linda (Don) Rogers Flanery and Donna Sue Rogers both of Oldtown; and several friends and extended family who all mourn his passing.
Funeral services will be 12 noon Wednesday March 27, 2019 at the Malone Funeral Home in Grayson with Danny Clarkston and Delmar Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in the Rogers-Messer Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-9 pm Tuesday and after 9 am Wednesday until the service hour all at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent to the Rogers family at www.malonefuneralhome.com
