Rev Roscoe C. Thornbury Jr.

Reverend Roscoe C. Thornbury, Jr., 98 of Willard went to be with his Lord on Sunday, May 29, 2022 at his residence. Roscoe was born June 22, 1923 in Logan, WV a son of the late Roscoe C. Thornbury, Sr. and Bertha Thomas Thornbury. Roscoe served his country during WWII in the Army Air Corps, was a minister of over 70 plus years in several local churches throughout his lifespan, he had a love of big-band era music, singing gospel music and was an avid trombone player. He graduated from Morehead State, Georgetown College and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Roscoe also served as President of National Demonstration of Water Project in Logan, WV. He was preceded by his wife Bobbie Lou Bannister Thornbury in 1975, brothers, Leslie, Edward and Ray Thornbury, sister, Dorothy Tiedeman. He is survived by three sons, Steven (Mary) Thornbury, Ross (Suzi) Thornbury both of Willard and John (Brenda) Thornbury of Louisa, KY, daughter, Cindy Shinn of Willard, KY, 11 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, 1:00 p.m. at Malone Funeral Home with Steve Gilreath, minister. Burial will be in the Reeves Family Cemetery in Willard.
