Velda E. Cooper, 92, of Carter City went to be with her Lord on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at Vanceburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Vanceburg, KY. Velda was born January 1, 1926 in Lewis County, a daughter of the late Orville and Nora Jordan Roe. She was a homemaker, a member of Ladies Auxiliary of D.A.V., attended Carter Christian Holiness Church and Oakland Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Ervin Cooper in 1989; two brothers, Amel Roe and Emmard Roe; four sisters, Lorean Hanson, Juanita Hanson, Frances Lauderback Young and Norma Ruth Conn; four brother-in-laws, Elwood Cooper, Everett Cooper, Frank Cooper and Herb Cooper; two sister in laws, Maria Jordan and Dorothy Jesse. Her survivors include; one son Kenneth (Trisha) Cooper of Carter City; one daughter, Wilma (Robert) Theinert of Carter; eight grandchildren, Lincoln (Emily) Theinert, Brittany (Ben) Caudill Kenzie (James) Pendergrass, Maci Cooper, Shannon (Cyndi) Salley, Brandon Salley and Shane (Whitney) Salley; eight great-grandchildren, Harrison Caudill, Jackson Caudill, Daniel Stephens, Hannah Salley, Matthew Pendergrass, Ashlee Salley, Cheyanne Salley and Carlee Salley; brother-in-law, Horace Cooper.
Funeral services will be Sunday 2:00 p.m. at Malone Funeral Home with Terry Cooper and Bill Burnett, ministers. Burial will be in the Stone Cemetery.
