Lois “Sis” Hall Kappes, 91 of Hitchins went to be with her Lord, Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at her residence following an extended illness. Lois was born May 22, 1925 in Hitchins, a daughter of the late Estill “Grit” and Nada Wallace Hall. She was a retired school teacher with the Carter County School System, attended the Hitchins Wesleyan Church, a member of the Hitchins Homemakers and a graduate of Morehead State University. Lois was a very community minded person being one of the founding members of the Hitchins Community Center and instrumental in the development of the Hitchins Volunteer Fire department and bringing city water to Hitchins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Kappes; one son, Kevin Douglas Kappes; one sister, Betty Johnson. Her survivors include; two daughters, Jilda McDavid of Grayson and Shelley (Jack) Davis of Hitchins; one sister, Margaret Ann Adams of Willard; four grandchildren, Theresa (Chris) Dobbins, Jason (Tiersa) Davis, Brad (Erica) McDavid and Megan (Marshall) Tyson; 10 great-grandchildren, Tristan, Samuel, Kendall, Abigail, Charlotte, Natalie, Holden, Madelyn, Maddox and Marshall Jr.; special caregivers, Koneta Littleton and Melissa Stewart; a special friend whom was more like a sister, Helen LeMaster.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday at Malone Funeral Home with Denver Prater and Keith Kappes. Entombment will be in the East Carter County Memory Gardens. Friends may call Thursday from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at Malone Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers will be Brad McDavid, Jason Davis, Tristan Burton, Samuel Burton, Greg Shaffer and David Bush. Honorary pallbearers will be David Johnson, Mike Adams, Tim Littleton, Chris Dobbins and Marshall Tyson. Memorial contributions are suggested to: Carter County Christian Academy, P.O.
