Floyd McDavidDecember 19, 1931 ~ May 30, 2017 (age 85)
Floyd McDavid, 85, passed away Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at the Carter Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a short illness. He was born in Beetle, Kentucky on December 19, 1931 to the late McKinley and Evangeline Salyers McDavid. He was the middle child in a family of eleven children. He grew up on Little Fork and attended the McDavid School.
He joined the army in 1950 and after basic training entered the 82nd Airborne. He married Nora Ann Fults on July 10, 1951. They celebrated their 50th Anniversary in 2001. After Nora’s death in 2002, he suffered a massive stroke which left him wheelchair bound for the rest of his life. He married Ann Huffman in October of 2003. He was a member of the Iron Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
Floyd was preceded in death by his wife, Nora, five brothers, Arnold James, Vernon Russell, Thomas Henry, James Franklin, Stanley McDavid; three sisters, Rose Myrtle Justice, Juanita Sturgill and Sarah McDavid.
Floyd is survived by his wife Ann Huffman McDavid; two sons, Timothy (Cheryl) McDavid of GA and Keith McDavid of Grayson; three daughters, Reba (Joe) Mastin, Vanessa McDavid and Roma McDavid all of AZ; two sisters, Blanch Howard of OH and Joan Herron of Grayson; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren who he enjoyed hearing about their escapades; sister and brother-in-law, Roy (Doc) and Virginia Murphy; sister-in-law, Martha McDavid and numerous nieces and nephews from that side of the family.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, 11:00 a.m. at Malone Funeral Home with Lowell Elliott, minister. Burial with military honors will be in the Pennington Family Cemetery.
